Alumni Softball Tournament Info.
- Here is the most up to date information on the Alumni Softball Tournament from the alumni Softball chair, Tom Jenkins '97:
- Sept 18th @ Total Sports in Mt. Clemens.
- Cost to play is $25 per player.
- Sign up by Sept 15th. We will take last minute sign-ups, but can't guarantee what team you will be placed on.
- Tournament will start around 9am depending on the number of teams. Sign in will be 1/2 hour before the first games. It is double elimination with a 2 hour break for pizza, pop, and salad - beer will be available for sale during this break.
- If we have 6-10 teams we will wrap up on Saturday. If we have more than 10, or there is bad weather, we will finish Sunday morning.
- Please bring your gray and green t-shirts from last year. We will have t-shirts for sale, but have a limited number so bring a generic gray and green shirt if you don't have an ND alumni softball shirt or do not wish to purchase one.
- 7 innings or 65 minute game limit, 15 minute breaks between games. 10 guys in the field, everyone hits. Opposing team will have someone catch, but not cover for plays at the plate, if the other team is short-handed.
- Each team can have 2 non-ND alums play to help round out teams.
- Last year, everything ran pretty smooth except the sign up that morning. So it's important that we have everyone at Total Sports 1/2 hour before the tournament starts. Please arrive at 8:30am. If you are the guy who usually gets a team together for your year, please work with us to do this early so that we will be able to coordinate the field and ump schedule with Total Sports and be able to get a bracket with game times out to everyone before the tournament.
- Lastly, beer... Total apparently had a drinking incident on the field or in the parking lot since our last tournament. So they may clamp down on drinking this year. Please make sure that Total umps or staff do not see beer cans or bottles in the parking lot or dugout. (Cleverly conceal it.)
