NEW ALUMNI DIRECTORY FOR 2009
- You all should be receiving a post card from the Harris Connect Directory office in Chesapeake, Virginia asking you to call 1-866-216-4144. Please call this number to verify your information for listing in our new alumni directory. The alumni directory is due out in January of 2009.
2009 Alumni Directory Update:
I had a meeting with Harris Connect, the publisher of the new alumni directory. The purpose of the meeting was to go over the numbers of responses and to clarify a few items. The CD-ROM will no longer be available. Since no one has purchased one to this date, we've decided not to publish the directory in CD-ROM form. However, both parties are very pleased with the responses and the amount of print directories reserved by alumni. We've had over 2,300 respond to requests to update their information. From those who have updated their information, just under 25% have reserved a copy of the directory. These numbers are VERY good at this stage of the project. Below are some frequently asked questions regarding the project.
A) How many different editions of the directory will there be?
Two. A Collectors (Deluxe) edition and a Hardbound edition.
B) What is the difference between the Collectors edition and the Hardbound edition?
The Collectors edition uses higher quality paper, hardcover, and is stitch bound. The Hardbound edition uses different paper, hardcover, and is glue bound. The content is the same.
C) What is the cost of the two editions of the directory?
The Collectors edition is $89.99, Hardbound is $69.99. Shipping and handling for each is $9.95.
D) Do I have to purchase a directory?
Of course not. If you do not wish to purchase one, please do not feel obligated to do so.
E) Why am I being asked to commit to purchasing the directory at the time I update my information?
This is your one and only chance to purchase the directory. Harris Connect is not charging the Friends of Notre Dame for all of the data gathering and publishing work they are doing. That's right; this is being done at no cost to us. Since Harris Connect is not charging us, the only way they will make money from our contract is from selling the directories. Therefore, they will only print the number of directories that are reserved. They need to ask you if you'd like to purchase the directory while they have you on the phone.
F) Is there a deadline for registering my info?
Yes there is. The last day to update your information and reserve your copy of the alumni directory is September 22, 2008. After that date, no new updates or orders can be placed.
G) What payment options do I have if I decide to purchase the directory?
Harris Connect's preferred method of payment is credit card. They can also send you an invoice and you can then pay with a check or money order.
H) I haven't been contacted by Harris Connect yet. What do I do to be sure I am included in the directory?
If you did not receive a post card, email or phone call from Harris Connect's office in Chesapeake, Virginia, the number to call to verify your information is 1-866-216-4144. Please call this number to verify your information for listing in our new alumni directory. If you have not yet responded to the post cards, they will be calling you starting August 11.
